What's halo frizz and how do you minimise it?

The frizz you get at the top of your head is referred to as HALO frizz, and it happens more often during the monsoon season. Dry hair sticks out seeking moisture from the atmosphere. A little bit of functional frizz is good – gives a voluminous appearance, but if your frizz is drawing attention from passersby, we need to do something about it.

These are our top tips based on research:

The right way to cleanse:
It's normal to start applying cleanser to the top of your head first, scrub vigorously, and move on to the sides and back. Switch this order – Start by applying cleanser to the back of the head, then the sides, and lastly the top. This ensures the top doesn’t dry out. Flipping your head upside down for this will make the process less confusing.

Don’t even think about skipping conditioner:
Conditioner is EVERYTHING, especially for curlies. Flip your head upright after cleansing. Apply conditioner to the TOP of the head FIRST (avoiding the roots), then move on to the sides and back.

Let the conditioner soak in for a few minutes. Sing a song or bust some dance moves while you wait…Detangle gently with your fingers, squish the conditioner into hair for a little bit.

Flip your head upside down, and rinse the BACK of the head FIRST, then the sides and the top. This ensures the conditioner sits longer on top locking in much-needed moisture. Rinse lightly, leaving some conditioner in – No need to rinse it all off.

Use your favorite styler if needed, applying it gently to the canopy and the lengths of the hair. Use a cotton towel to squish the water out and air dry.
A good plant-based conditioner can go a long way in keeping those curls soft, bouncy, and frizz-free. Look for products made with plant extracts with small amounts of protein for locking in moisture and provide definition.

Repeat the process of conditioning every 2 to 3 days with a lightweight conditioner & say buh-bye to frizz!
